NCBW-OBAC identifies the needs of the community and explores opportunity for community outreach consistent with the Chapter’s mission and vision. We have become a resource in providing assistance to organizations that support the improvement of the lives of young women.

In 2003, the Oakland Bay Area Chapter of NCBW launched the “Sistahs Getting Real About HIV/AIDS” program by sponsoring 15 billboards throughout the Bay Area, a HIV/AIDS Symposium and various workshops in an effort to educate women in our community.

NCBW/OBAC signature program, “Positive Steps” is a mentoring program developed to support and nurture leadership in young girls, ages 12 to 17.

"Each of us, famous or infamous, is a role model for somebody, and if we aren't, we should behave as though we are; cheerful, kind, loving, courteous. Because you can be sure someone is watching and taking deliberate and diligent notes."
~ Maya Angelou
